About Us
In 1567, in Central Europe, a young Sir Samuel J. Quincey made an important discovery. That Quincey has nothing to do with our story. More humbly, some guy named Quincey opened a restaurant in the small town of Damascus, Virginia. After some years, the pizza shop closed and reopened again under the ownership of Steven Sweet.
Having spent many years as a corporate executive in the heart of the food service industry, and having worked his way up from lowly parking lot sweeper to master chef at 4 star restaurants in Paris, Madrid, London, and Toad Suck, Arkansas, Steven decided to take his vast knowledge of culinary artistry to a small town. Thus, when the opportunity arrived to take over the venerable Quincey's Pizza, Steve did so with alacrity.
Quincey's has another great distinction: being located literally right on the Appalachian Trail. As the AT travels right down the sidewalk of Laurel Avenue in downtown Damascus, the delectable scent of baking pizzas and savory aromas of burgers, catfish, and hoagies drift out the front door and into the path of hundreds of hikers every year. The "Friendliest Town on the Trail" also boasts of having what may be the best food on the trail as well.
